'A Woman Should Have'

"A Woman Should Have”
~ by Pamela Redmond Satran

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her old age….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
a feeling of control over her destiny.
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
how to fall in love without losing herself.
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
that her childhood may not have been perfect…but its over…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t take it personally…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table
or a charming inn in the woods
when her soul needs soothing…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
what she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
a month…and a year…

Green Smothie

So I 'stumbled upon' these images and recipe for this awsomely amazing 'Green Monster' smoothie {as my kids call it} and have decided to share this awsome treat with you all!

This recipe is super simple. All you need is a blender and the following ingredients:
  • 1-2 bananas
  • 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • a couple handfuls of spinach
  • water
  • ice (if desired)
Add enough water to blend and enjoy, that’s it! Forget the dehydrating morning latte and get the glow with a Green Smoothie instead. It will literally chang your life just by adding Green Smoothies into your routine. Great for weight loss, digestive health, supporting the immune system, and as a healthy and filling snack. After a couple of weeks you’ll have that ‘Glow’ – glowing skin, hair, nails, even eyes get brighter! Who doesn’t want that?! Try any combo you like, all you need is a base of bananas, fruit of your choice and a couple handfuls of your favorite green (I like spinach as it has a really mild flavor that blends well).

Make your own Bird feeder!

Its definatly the start of fall {up here at least}. The leafes are starting to turn yellow or brown, and even some of the early leafes are already spiraling and twirling thier way down off thier once full and green branches. Sitting here gazing out my crafting room window, I see the tree's in the alley swaying from the pressure of the wind. I do love windy days :} As some of you might already know, I absolutley LOVE Fall/Autumn! Its not the usual reasoning for me. I do enjoy the holidays during fall {Halloween & Thanksgiving} but for me its about the changing of the weather from hot {well not so much up here, but it the lower 48 at least...}to mild to chilly. Or going for walks in the cool, crisp autumn afternoons, watching the wind moove leafes off tree's, swirling around the already fallen foliage, raking leaf piles, and jumping into them, throwing them. Im most comfortable in a sweater and jeans. Not to hot, hot to cold, Just right :} The bright profound colors of the season are so beautiful {yet again, more so in the lower 48, but still pretty none the less} Ahhhhh how I love Fall/Autumn <3

So today's great idea for the day is: Make your own bird feeders! There easy as pie! haha. And KID FRIENDLY!! Yeah thats the best part. My girls love making these feeders, unfortunatly my images are on the lap top and its currently being used for my Itunes {lullaby jams} for nap time. Sweet nap time! lol So without further adeau, the materials needed, and directions! The images were found via my http://www.google.com/ search engine, since I cannot access mine at this moment!

Maretials Needed:
~
Cardboard toilet paper tubes
~Wax paper or newspaper
~Peanut butter
~Plastic table knive(s) or more if multiple children
~Colored yarn or craft pipe cleaners
~Paper plate(s)
~Bird seed/ leftover bland cereal w/no additives. I.E. Cheerios, kix, rice krispies, corn flakes, chex etc...
~Sizors
~Masking tape & Pen {for attaching a piece of tape on the feeder and writing name on it, so you know who's is who's}

Directions:

~Punch 2 holes evently spaced on the tubes, then show the children how to pull a piece of yarn through the toilet paper tube and tie it in a knot.
~Then lay the tube on a piece of wax paper or newspaper.
~Let the children spread peanut butter all around the outside of the cardboard tube using a plastic knife.
~Have paper plates filled with bird seed and mix of cereal (1 per child)
~have the children roll their toilet paper tubes in the bird seed, covering the outside as much as possible.
~Their birdfeeder is ready to hang!!

Told you they are as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4! LOL

Do it yourself!

Ahh another rainy day...
Another kid friendly project!

Today I share with everyone a home recipe for making your own play dough! Yes thats right folks, you can make your own play dough in your kitchen!
Basic ingredient ratios:2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional for improved elasticity)

Depending on how much you want to make, and how many colors, about 2-4 drops of food coloring per batch (unless of course you cut the playdough in half {before mixing colors} then you can have a nice color variation, just with smaller amounts of the playdough.) {The Neon Food coloring gives a brighter profound color then the original}
I always just made another batch if I wanted to offer more colors. (if you have some scented oils, you can do a couple drops in when your mixing it to give it a more pleasant smell then the salt smell you will have) either way its a great project for toddlers/preschoolers becuase they can help you measure the ingrediants out, and help mix. My kids love being able to mix in 'cooking' ingrediants only to find that they have created something they can play with (and not get in trouble for making a mess) However I would suggest a parent do the measuring of the food coloring and oils if you choose to do the scented playdough.  This reciepe is non toxic, however do not let your pets eat it, with all the salt and flower its not 'nice' to pets stomaches.

For storage, place in a tupperware {with sealing lid}, ziplock bag or you can just wrap it in plastic wrap but for best results I would suggest a air tight container so the play dough dosnt dry out :)

Giveaway?

Im just so darn happy right now! I was recently contacted via email from someone who has seen my blogg(s) and is interested in having me host a giveaway for them! But thats not even the best part, they will give me 1 of thier product to test! And in addition to testing their product for free, and giving one away to a lucky person, theres a chance that if someone wants to buy one from my advertising, that I could make some money for helping them out :) How awsome is that, right?! Im not going to disclose what the company is just yet, until the strings are all worked out and set in place, but once things are rolling, theres no doubt that I will advertise thier product all over my bloggs and my facebook accounts :) I've taken a look at thier site, and have to say Im impressed!

Oobleck

Ahhh atlass a homemade recipe that works in our house for Oobleck {flubber, goop, puddy, etc!!} Made this for the kids at the day care quite frequently, and since being home, have been looking for the right recipe to recreate it for my kids! So without further adeau here is the recipe that I found!

To make your own mix 2 cups of cornstarch and 1 cup water in a bowl. If you want to color your oobleck like we did, add a few drops of food coloring to the water before adding to the cornstarch. It took some effort to mix the water and cornstarch. Try it out (hit it with your fist and pour it off a spoon to see if it works) before you give into the urge to add more water to make it easier to mix. When the kids weren't playing with it I covered it with plastic wrap.

takes on the form of liquid when lightly touched or played with...

but give it a hard hit or touch, and it firms up!
Too Cool! Really, you must give it a try!

Remember these images, and repices are not mine from scratch, I got them from: http://www.skiptomylou.org/2007/03/02/oh-the-places-you-will-go/

Nothing but fun!

Oh we had a blast! From the minute the girls heared auntie and uncle pull up, the were bouncing! Had to bundle them up {haha. They looked like Frankie little brother off the movie "a christmas story" with the risque leg lamp, all poofed out like a marshamllow!! I giggled a few times.} The minute the boat turned on, I expected Kress to freak bc of the noise {wasnt sure if I had her ear plugs in correctly or not}  but she was so curious! Alanna is so darn skinny then when the boat took off her seat keept sliding back, so she chose to stand up next to me and kress, plus she got a better view that way. Every person we saw on the river, they both waved to eagerly :) Once we landed {Though it was raining a little} they were so anxious to get out and explore! They were all over the place splashing, jumping, running, throwing, etc. My oh my the fun they had! {even though mom forgot the other bag with the extra clothes in it : / not to happy with myself} But despite the  change of clothes, they had a blast. Cooked hotdogs over a small fire, picked out some rocks, played in the water, my oh my the fun they had!! Wahooo for Family Fall Fun!!

People think we have forgotten,
when at times they see us smile.
Little do they know the heartache
that our smiles hide all the while.
Beautiful memories are wonderful things,
That last till the longest day.
They never wear out,
They never get lost
and can never be given away...

Found this poem on someones page remembering one of thier lost. Beautiful poem, to help me with the grieveing of my lost family members. Cancer is a nasty thing, that unfortunatly has claimed 2 of my family members within the last 1 year. :(
